Today is a big day. To celebrate Xmas, the anniversary of my site, and its move to BeyondUnreal. As you know, I shut down the site because of real life priorities, and it will stay down. But never fear, it will remain archived right here, thanks to QAPete who arranged the move. Since the old design was for a news site, I made a new design for the archive site, removing all external links which could become broken as well as adding an internal download center. This will greatly enhance accessibility and usability of the archived site. Last but far from least I'm going to release one final modification (actually a bunch of mods) as a Christmas package: EavyDominationPlus: This game type is a mix of Domination with Capture the Flag. Instead of time based scoring, your team scores a capture by controlling all control points at the same time for ten seconds. The first team with three captures wins. EavyHighlanderMod: This mutator turns players into immortal Highlanders who can only be killed by shots to the head. EavyMonsterMadness: This mutator spawns Skaarj monsters in any map. Planned for release as a Thanksgiving gift last year, I didn't release it since I wanted to polish it some more by including customization features, but time constraints prevented it. Other than that it's probably the most complete of this bunch of mods and a lot of fun for even a lone player in an otherwise empty map. EavyCheatMode: This mutator lets players use cheat console commands without logging in as an admin. Made for practice matches so admins don't have to tell other players the admin password. Useful for clan practice servers. EavyTournamentMutator: This mutator protects against common exploits like spawn-killing, impact-jumping, impact-launching, rocket-launching, redeemer-launching, team-switching, flag-dropping, tele-fragging, team-killing, and translocator-tossing. Made for all game types. Never finished however. There's no support at all, though, so please try figuring it out on your own. Most of the stuff should be quite straightforward. Put .int and .u files in your UT System directory and choose the game type or select the mutator. If something doesn't work for you, try something else, after all there's a bunch of mods in this package. Merry Xmas, PS: I recommend playing an EavyDominationPlus game as a Highlander with Skaarj monsters! Merry Xmas!! :-) Today it's Christmas, that's a very special day, especially since it's also the first anniversary of this website. One year ago, I released my first mod for Unreal Tournament, and now I'm a contract programmer for Epic Games again. As a little gift for my loyal fans, I'm giving away a mini-mod, I made it for myself some time ago. It's a server browser enhancement, similar to the one used by the Assault Bonus Pack, but it works with all of the original UT modes. Although it's an unofficial add-on, a private project now available to the public, I'm sure it's very useful to all players who regularly use the built-in server browser. It's done, here it is, the Assault Bonuspack Update. The code has more than doubled since last version, and importance of features has grown exponentially, it's a must-have upgrade for Assault. With the update, I've managed to pull off the impossible, making client-side enhancements through a server-side-only mutator. The package also includes two more custom maps worthy of becoming standard levels. It's available both as a patch for users of the last release and a full download for newbies who don't have the Assault Bonus Pack yet. By the way, the last version has been downloaded over 24,736 times from my site alone! The update is even more of an improvement because of its additional enhancements, server-side as well as client-side, so make sure to upgrade as soon as possible... The Assault Bonus Pack is coming along great. I'm going to release an update at the end of the week. The patch will be a smaller file than the first release, of course, including one more map which was chosen by bonus pack players - it is being introduced today! Assault itself also got an important overhaul, the code has doubled in size, there will be some substantial changes to improve gameplay even more. In fact, the list of enhancements is so big, I'll spend the whole week explaining the main features in detail. The site will be updated daily, describing how the new stuff works, and why it was made. While the previous version fixed all of the critical bugs, Assault is still far from perfect, and I'm working very hard on changing it for the better. The Assault Bonus Pack is finally ready for launch, after half a year of development, it will be released at the end of the month as a downloadable Unreal Tournament Bonuspack. Its website has been published today and will be updated daily until the bonuspack comes out. Today's site update gives an explanation of history and purpose of the free add-on as well as an outlook on things to come during the week. Hot on the heels of 415 comes 416, it's not a bugfix release, though. This version includes a lot of new stuff. Consider 415 a rock-solid release whereas this one comes with additional features that need testing. It's a very important release, please test it thoroughly, there are some major changes. My To-Do-List is almost finished now, most feature requests are done, this is the most powerful release yet.

I have been asked if I could provide some of the bonuspack features for other gametypes and now I finally got around to fulfil those requests. Since spawn protection is the most requested feature, in any gametype, I'm making it available as a stand-alone mutator. It's based on the one included with the Assault Bonus Pack, but without Assault-specific code, and thus applies to all the other gametypes. (Assault servers shouldn't use this mutator but upgrade to the Assault Bonus Pack as soon as it's available because the bonuspack protection differentiates between attackers and defenders and lets you configure protection times for each team independently!) This mutator is server-side-only, won't auto-download to players, and should be ngWorldStats-compatible as soon as possible. It's small, fast, and efficient - while being customizable and powerful at the same time. Since it is derived from the bonuspack spawn protection, the code has been tested on private and public servers for several months now, and should be free of bugs. Anticipating the upcoming official release of the Assault Bonus Pack, I've moved my UT Mods site to a new host, no other than My DarkMatchPlus mod for UT was very popular among fans, and since the 413 patch broke it, I've been asked about an updated version all the time. Now I finally got around to it and it became a new full version, including several important changes and some helpful features. So after EavyDarkmatchI and EavyDarkmatchII, I proudly present EavyDarkmatchIII, the Epic-endorsed Darkmatch mod. Read the release notes to see what they said. Shortly after releasing version 412 I'm already publishing 413 - this one will become the final release version after testing has been completed successfully! Although I didn't fix any bugs (none are known), you should replace 412 with 413 as soon as possible, it includes several important optimizations among other internal changes and improvements... But before leaving, I'd like to announce the latest Assault Plus Mutator, to let you all know that the Assault Bonus Pack development is proceeding slowly but surely. In fact, it's a prerelease version, the one that will become part of the bonuspack after testing has been completed. If you've been using a previous test version, make sure to upgrade, the latest release includes a lot of improvements and enhancements. Players don't have to download the mod, it's server-side-only, but installing it on the client has additional benefits (easy key binding, single player capabilities, perfect for practice). Phase # 1 of the Assault Bonuspack Test has just begun: To get started, we need some dedicated server admins who will put the mutator on their public servers (it's server-side-only so by playing there, you can be a helpful betatester, too), or private servers (password-protected and running the bonuspack maps). If you're a server admin, please contact me as soon as possible so we can discuss the details, and don't be afraid of the "beta" tag (I could release right now if we weren't going to perfectionize it further since the stuff we have here is working great already). If you're not an admin but a player, fine, you can help as well by contacting your favorite server admins and asking them to participate. Although it might count the stats as Mod instead of Assault until ngWorldStats catches up, I'm sure the benefits outweigh that little issue by far, because it fixes the suicide-crash-bug as well as all blocking bugs and enhances gameplay a lot by providing four different and customizable gamestyles (and we all know that Assault stats are useless anyway until the system gets overhauled). ngWorldStats, proudly presents EavyAssaultIII. This is an updated version of
the EavyAssaultPlus mutator, fixing and improving it even more, a very helpful
mod for all Assault servers. The mutator will address critical problems of the
Assault gametype, since Epic won't make any gameplay improvements for UT
anymore, I've fixed it on my own. It offers both spawn and block protection as
well as a much-requested team switch hotkey. New in this third version are
advanced admin capabilities which will be very useful for running tournament
matches. Plus the obligatory internal changes and code cleanup to further
enhance performance. Installation is easy, the mod comes in .umod and .zip
formats, simply add the mutator and run an Assault game. Best of all, the
mutator is server-side-only, no client downloads necessary. I originally

I can't finish the Assault Bonus Pack, but I've decided to update the Assault Plus Mutator, at least. The original EavyAssaultPlus mutator had a couple of serious problems, both with Spawn and Block Protection, and all bugs have been fixed now. Please upgrade to the new version and stop using the old one. This version is the second one, EavyAssaultII, and includes some important enhancements internally. While all the settings are still hard-coded, default values should be optimized, and a possible third version will eventually add customization options. Keep in mind that although the features are still the same, the implementation has changed, this one will be much more efficient and useful. N.B.: It's a server-side-only mutator so clients don't have to download it manually or automatically. The mutator only has to be run server-side. I'm currently working on the Assault Bonus Pack for Unreal Tournament to provide some vital fixes and additional features to the Assault gametype. As it is, Assault is already one of the most interesting games once you get into it, but it's pretty tough for newbies so only hardcore players realize its full potential. My goal with the bonus pack is to make the game more appealing to newbies while making it even more enjoyable for veteran assaulters. Since the initial public release is still quite a while off, I'm releasing a simple Assault Plus Mutator now, basically an excerpt of things to come. It's most useful for all Assault servers and clients as it fixes the most serious problems and addresses the most argued issues. Here's a quick overview of the main contents: I created the mutator for the Assault leagues ( -- Eavy PS: This mutator adheres to the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid). Simply start an Assault game with the mutator, optionally bind a key at the console using the command "Set Input X Mutate EavyAssaultPlus", replacing X with the name of the key you would like to use. There's basic Assault as you're used to from playing Single Player Practice matches against bots or versus newbies. But sooner or later you'll encounter advanced Assault players who belong to several classes. Although there are no specialized player classes you can select in the game, all players are equal in their attributes, you do decide what kind of role you play within your team. In both the attacking and defending teams, there are various possible roles, it's entirely up to you to determine which one to play. You can switch between roles at any time simply by changing your way of playing. Here's a list of my favorite roles. I originally created this TagYerIt variant as an additional gametype for Rocket Arena: UT but eventually took it out because it's quite a difference from the "Pure Deathmatch Experience" of Rocket Arena so now I'm releasing it stand-alone independently of RAUT. It was kind of inspired by Alien versus Predator's "Tag" gameplay yet there have been other similar mods like this before that game. This Unreal Tournament Mod is a server-side-only gametype so client downloads are not necessary. Configuration is integrated into the GUI Mod Menu. The rules are simple: We have two teams, a lone hunter versus all the other players, and only the hunter (It) scores frags. To become It, you have to kill It. If It suicides, another It will be chosen automatically. It has some advanced technology to stand a chance against the opposition: Cloaking device, Damage amplifier, etc. Please note that this can be customized by the server admin to their liking... It's a very interesting style of playing since you'll constantly switch between teamplay and one-against-all as you kill and get killed - in the end, one doesn't even know for sure who the hunter is, and who is being hunted: Is It the hunter or the hunted? You'll have to experience it for yourself! Some people believe that it's cheating and/or "no fun" to take Impact-Jump shortcuts (e.g. Mazon). The same applies to so-called "Spawn-Camping" which is considered "cheap" by those who cannot cope with it. programming over a decade ago with BASIC on a C64, learned Pascal at
school, eventually taught myself C/C++, and the last years I mainly did
some Java programming. Lately I worked as a system and network
administrator for a local company and also did some contract
programming. Actually I'd be working for Lufthansa.com right now if I
had taken that offer, but I reconsidered, I'm kind of fed up with
business freelancing. I did some Quake2 mod development and loved games
and game design all my life so now I'm looking for a job in the computer
gaming industry. Being involved with an effort like RA:UT definitely is
a great opportunity and I'm glad I can contribute my code and ideas.

What started as a simple Unreal Tournament mutator has turned into a full-blown mod. Despite some problems like broken networking support as well as incompatibility with some maps, the initial release of my modification was an amazing success, almost 10,000 downloads in the short period of time since it's public release. That's why I was hard at work to make this latest version a very polished and professional one. The old version was less than 60 lines of code, the new one is over 760 lines long, almost completely rewritten. To sum it up: If you liked the old one, you're going to love the new one. If you experienced a problem with the old one, it will work properly this time. And if you didn't try it before, go get it now, before it gets dark tonight. Epic didn't bring Unreal DarkMatch to Unreal Tournament so I did it myself - and as one of my beta testers, CliffyB, said: "Hey, that mutator owns!" ;-) Server administrators running the mod are encouraged to inform me about it so I can link to their server or site - and play on their servers myself!! :-) ( More Info... | Download Now... )
Merry Xmas!! :-) Are you afraid of the dark? You will be after having played my DarkMatch mod! Unreal offered a DarkMatch gametype, Unreal Tournament includes that gametype as well, but it's hidden by default. To activate it, one has to hack the .ini files, but even then it will only work with special DarkMatch levels. That is why I wrote a DarkMatch Mutator so you can play it with all levels, all game- types, even all the other mutators available for Unreal Tournament. My Unreal Module Setup will install the mod and patch your config file automatically at the same time. So go get it right now, spread the word, enjoy the darkness... If you would like to make some dedicated DarkMatch maps, simply create your level as usual, but without any lighting. Prefix its filename with "DK" and select the "Tournament DarkMatch" gametype. Hopefully Epic will publish new DarkMatch levels as well, after all it's an official gametype, I guess just hidden because of time restraints. Never mind that, there are lots of other maps available already, and with this mutator you can play them all. One of my personal favorites is DarkMatch Assault - do try it and you'll know why!
